Our MBi Social Care central office support team, joined by other local businesses, who are always up for a good challenge, threw themselves into the day.
No creativity was spared in hosting a vintage-themed tea party, with tea dresses and bunting at the ready. Cupcakes, frostings and cakes of all shapes and sizes were whisked up by members of our various departments, including a ‘guess the employee’ cake, which added much fun and speculation to the proceedings.
The Alzheimer’s Society Fundraising Team commented on our fun idea to incorporate additional games to help bunk up our total, such as ‘Guess my waistline’, where one of our employees volunteered the measurements of his waistline to be estimated by cutting a piece of string, at 50p a go. The Alzheimer’s Society team mentioned that they were inspired by this idea and would look to include such extra activities in the kit packs they post out for next year.
We also invited surrounding businesses to the event, and delivered cakes to the staff of a local primary school, further advancing our Dementia Action Alliance (DAA) commitment to raise awareness of dementia locally. We raised a total of £76.56 in the office on the day; a total then doubled by directors from MBi Social Care, and the school addition then added on.
Just as importantly, we had the opportunity to speak with people many about dementia and local services available to them.
